I wouldn t normally buy this from a book shop, but since the club that I m a member in will be meeting the author next week, and I m a book hoarder myself, GAME Hmm. Well, di ko siya masyadong nagustuhan. At first, I have no idea what the book is about But as I read through other people s comments, I was like, Ahh. Yun pala yun Intoy, the lead character, is in love with his best friend, Jen, whom he has a friends with benefits relationship But he can t admit it to her, for fear that th I wouldn t normally buy this from a book shop, but since the club that I m a member in will be meeting the author next week, and I m a book hoarder myself, GAME Hmm. Yun pala yun Intoy, the lead character, is in love with his best friend, Jen, whom he has a friends with benefits relationship But he can t admit it to her, for fear that their relationship with benefits will end, or worse, Jen doesn t love him back So he s content with whatever he they have.Intoy has a lot of rants And I don t think there s anything wrong with that We all have those, at times But too much negativity Maybe about 90% of the 185 pages Uhm that s around 167 pages Haha Nakakapagod basahin.I get it, we all have a lot of reasons to rant about, but I guess I just don t like the way how these complaints felt paulit ulit.

This is about Karl Vladimir Lennon J Villalobos, aka Intoy, a graduating college student He met the most beautiful transferee in his school who befriended Intoy until they ended up being friends with benefits and perks a sexual relationship without commitments As the friendship builds, when Intoy was into saying that he had fallen in love with her, Jen confessed that she was pregnant but the child is not Intoy s She then disappeared and didn t able to finish college The latter part of the This is about Karl Vladimir Lennon J Villalobos, aka Intoy, a graduating college student He met the most beautiful transferee in his school who befriended Intoy until they ended up being friends with benefits and perks a sexual relationship without commitments As the friendship builds, when Intoy was into saying that he had fallen in love with her, Jen confessed that she was pregnant but the child is not Intoy s She then disappeared and didn t able to finish college The latter part of the story is about Intoy wandering around the city, hoping to forget Jen but ended up missing her This somehow depicts Bob Ong s style telling the Filipino daily living and enumerating humorous Filipino topics But then, Atalia s style is visible as he expounded some topics in his books The story is actually short yet because Atalia made tactics to broaden the topics presented like when Intoy went in the wash room and from this, Atalia has profoundly discussed some things regarding the toilet bowl.Sometimes, I consider this style inessential and ineffective because the main point of the story is destroyed as Atalia has mentioned a lot of roundabouts regarding certain topics unlike that of Bob Ong s who also uses this strategy yet makes sure that there is the continuity among topics. On the good side, the trueness of the things Atalia has shown adds points to the book The books still shows how the present generation acts The world of sex is very in trend nowadays and Atalia used this as the thematic representation of the adventures of Intoy After reading this, teenagers specially college students will both laugh and dismay to the reality that the book represents.Note I used this in my book review article in De La Salle Lipa s tabloid, issue no 1 2013

I m still going to write a review in English even though this is a Filipino novel because I am not that good in writing in Tagalog Philippine language I don t really read Filipino novels that much because I m not good in understanding and reading Tagalog Honestly, I m better at speaking, understanding, and writing in English rather than Tagalog I just got used to it that way but it doesn t mean I have prejudices in the two languages Anyway, I give 3.5 stars for this novel I first heard of I m still going to write a review in English even though this is a Filipino novel because I am not that good in writing in Tagalog Philippine language I don t really read Filipino novels that much because I m not good in understanding and reading Tagalog Honestly, I m better at speaking, understanding, and writing in English rather than Tagalog I just got used to it that way but it doesn t mean I have prejudices in the two languages Anyway, I give 3.5 stars for this novel I first heard of this novel in an indie film Yes, this has a movie And I really enjoyed the movie so I thought to give this novel a shot But I was rather disappointed It has too many unnecessary scenes The author kept bombarding the novel with new thoughts and ideas that I had a hard time understanding on what really is going on. The protagonist, Intoy, would think about certain things and then another scene will be interjected into it and so on and so forth I find it confusing at times and I have to read the whole page over again just for me to get a grasp on what the author wants to tell However, I really like the whole plot It s like friends with benefits , and I am such a fan of those kind of stories But the ending s rather sad and 500 days of Summer ish There are certain lines and scenes wherein Intoy could really give good insights on the situation he set himself in And being in a conservative country, I guess this is one of the scandalous kind of novel that Eros Atalia could offer A truly delightful, erotic, and probably humorous novel, I find this novel entertaining although I think some parts of it should be erased instead
