I found The Orchid Girls to be an okay psychological thriller though it dragged on a bit Three teenage girls are hanging out for the summer in Dorset yet one day one of the girls Charlotte doesn't return home Her friends Grace and Molly claim they left her in town though this is clearly untrue Other than that they're saying nothing Fast forward 16 years and we find Grace is a successful social media star with her husband running for Mayor of London whereas Molly is a lonely alcoholic Yet the two women find their lives drawn together again with the past threatening to catch up with them What happened on the cliff? What really happened to Charlotte? The going in this book was so slow it really missed out on creating a chilling atmosphere Where suspense should have been building I found my interest waning This book is about 100 pages too long It's a passable book and lovers of the genre will probably like it even if it is a bit transparent at the endMy thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review

The Orchid Girls by Lesley Sanderson is the story of three friends Grace Charlotte and Molly Fifteen years ago Charlotte had gone missing the Grace and Molly the last to see her alive and when she was found dead they were cleared of the crime burying the secrets of just what happened that dayNow Grace is on top of the world about to launch her new book with a husband and booming career Molly however has struggled with the demons of the past and is a struggling alcoholic With Grace in the media Molly finally tracks down her old friend looking to her for answers and comfort of what happened all those years agoThe Orchid Girls was a slow burning mysterythriller read that is told by alternating the point of view between the characters The story also has flashes back into the past and newspaper articles and journal entries to build what had happened that fateful day long agoNow without saying too much I’d like to just mention I appreciate what the author was trying to do with the sign of the times angle of the book However to me this one was a pretty straight forward shot at an outcome Perhaps it’s due to reading hundreds of books each year or others may feel the same but I felt this lacked the twist and turns of a true thrilling read to rate too high but with nice writing I do believe it was an Ok book overallI received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalleyFor reviews please visit

I received a free e copy of The Orchard Girls by Lesley Sanderson from NetGalley for my honest reviewThe Orchard Girls is a psychological thriller that had me hooked immediately This is a story of three girls Charlotte Molly and Grace who were all friends until one day when Charlotte is found dead Molly and Grace were the last to see Charlotte alive but there wasn't any evidence ever found to connect them to the murder This split Molly and Grace's friendship apartYears later Molly is struggling with being an alcoholic and a very bad relationship Grace is an internet celebrity clean eating ueen with a husband named Richard who is a politician who expects her to be perfect The girls are forced to re connect after all these years when they hear of another girl who has disappeared in Richard's home village and the incident is almost exactly like the incident with Charlotte So many lies and so much deceit but who is the killer?

The Orchid Girls by Lesley Sanderson tackles some tough subjects even in 2018 The main characters all have their flaws and are not especially likeable at times but it all makes for a great read It was a bit slow to begin with the story from the past being drawn out very slowly The pace does pick up and by the end I didn't want to put it downChildhood friends Molly Grace and Charlotte were known as the Orchid Girls One summer Charlotte dies on a Dorest cliff edge Molly and Grace are haunted by this the rest of their lives 15 years later Molly is an alcoholic and Grace is married to a famous politician and is about to release her first book The 2 get back in touch and secrets are dying to be told A photo threatens to destroy them what will they doThanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for my advanced copy of this book to read and enjoy All opinions are my own and are in no way biased

The Orchid Girls previously entitled On The Edge is Lesley Sanderson's debut novel and as the author has alluded to in her biography she has a fascination with the psychology of female relationships in particular This is what she explores in this book with the friendships between the three main characters Grace Charlotte and Molly and what binds them all together is a major part of the plot Sanderson also makes the time period in which it is set one of the standout features This is a sign of the times novel saying will spoil it for potential readersThere are some sound concepts here but unfortunately it was very very slow going I honestly didn't think I would make it to the end It certainly drags in places however those who enjoy slow burners may appreciate it I also felt that 100 pages could've been cut without losing anything and it would've only lead to improvement in that it would be suspenseful and less tedious It did seem as though there was uite a bit of padding There was a distinct lack of twists and turns that are essential in a genre such as this and I found everything rather predictable I certainly wouldn't label it as thrilling or gripping or anything with similar meaningMany thanks to Bookouture for an ARC I was not reuired to post a review and all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own

A relatively enjoyable character driven crime thriller A little predictable and it was clear how this was going to end which is always a bit disappointing Molly Grace and Charlotte are the central characters but they are a little irritatingannoying The value of the read is in how the author tackles teenage bullying the impact of how children deal with and interpret secrets and lies

They called them The Orchid GirlsMollyCharlotte and GraceOne of them is in loveOne of them is a liarOne of them is deadOne day three became two Two who swore an oath never to tell anyone what happened on that summers day on the cliff overlooking the seaBut how far is one of them prepared to go to protect herself and stop the truth from being uncovered? This is a compelling tale of secretsliesmanipulationobsessionfirst loveaddictiondenialfriendships and relashionships It's told in chapters that mainly alternate between the points of view of the adult versions of two of the girls One has changed her nameis a food bloggerhas just had a book published and is married to a MP who is in the running to be the next Mayor Of London The other is struggling to hold down a joblives in a dingy flat and is a alcoholic due to her guilt over what happened all those years ago Interspersed throughout the book is extracts from the three girls diaries that give the reader an insight into their livesinteractions and thoughts beforeduring and after that terrible summer's day There is also newspaper articles about the disappearances of two teenage girlsone case set in the past and one in the present both of which bore striking similarities to each other My favourite character was Ellisthe other main characters were not very likeable and didn't have any redeemable ualities The author's descriptions of the alcoholic character`s daily battle to not have a drink were realistic Both the main female characters refusal to accept the truth about certain things in both their lives was frustrating but perfect examples of how people both in fiction and in reality refuse to accept what is right in front of their own eyesThis is a well writtengripping psychological thriller that had me hooked in and totally enthralled from the very first page The author keeps the reader guessing and speculating about the shocking truth of what happened on that summers day until not far from the end of the book Amazing bookhighly recommended and I look forward to reading books by this author in the futureMany thanks to Bookouture for a arc of this book via netgalley in exchange for a honest review

What is your life was built on lies? You had to worry every day about your secrets being revealed Is it possible to escape your past and never look back? Or will your past come back to haunt you no matter how hard you try to hide it?I loved this debut novel by Lesley Sanderson She knocked it out of the park She managed to create a suspense filled read that had me captivated the entire time Three 14 year old girls hanging out together What could go wrong? Plenty can go wrongThe blurb for this book sums it up perfectly Three girls deemed The Orchid Girls by the media One is dead one is a liar and one is in love Were the remaining Orchid Girls the last to see the dead girl? Even if they were does it necessarily mean they know anything about it?Fueled by jealously lust and lies this is one suspense filled read I flew through the chapters at the edge of my seat wondering when we would learn who really was lying Someone must know what happened that day The uestion is did the Orchid Girls really know the answer? The majority of the story we got to see it through Molly and Grace's eyes in chapters from the present day highlighting their point of view Each girl took a totally different path in life It was intriguing to see how each chose to deal with their troubled past We also got a glimpse into all three of the girls past from diary entries filled with their thoughts and feelings Were these three girls really as close as the media and public thought? Were they capable of killing someone? I was not really sure who to root for I struggled to decipher the truth from the lies So many secrets all revealed in good timeWhat a fantastic debut I am excited to see what this author has in store for us next

I so enjoyed this book It had me intrigued right from the start and I ended up reading it in one day as I had to know how everything was going to endThe story flicks between the two main characters Molly and Grace We are also taken from past to present so we can understand about things that surrounded the death of their friend Charlotte Both women couldn't be different Where as Grace is really living the high life doing well in her work and personal life Molly is pretty much at rock bottom Whatever happened in the past Molly is certainly struggling to deal with and now that she has found Grace again all her emotions have come back to the forefront and she is desperate to rekindle the relationship they had back when they were kids I actually uite liked both women They both have this vulnerability about them that made me want things to work out okay for them both I knew though I had to know just what had happened years before and what secrets were waiting to be divulgedThere are certainly a few red herrings that threw me and I really thought I knew where the story was going only to be completely wrong For me this is what a psychological thriller is all about A wonderfully dark read that messes with your headThe Orchid Girls is an enthralling read that hooked me in and didn't let go I loved the build up of suspense throughout the novel and it's one that readers will definitely struggle to put down Fabulous read loved itMy thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for an advanced readers copy of this book All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway

Friendship Forbidden love Obsession MurderThree girls and a secret so explosive that it leads to the death of one of them Two of the girls were acuitted of premeditated murder but never spoke again Sixteen years laterlife has gone on and one of the girls has changed her name moved away from Dorset and has married and developed a successful food blogger business while the other is living in drunken sualor Lies and guilt have kept them apart but now all is about to come out as a journalist is doing an expose of the case NO SPOILERSThis is a psychological drama focusing on female relationships and sexuality What lengths will one go through to keep truth hidden especially after completely reinventing oneself This is a debut novel and though it bogs down uite a bit with lots of internal angsting and little action it was entertaining and I'd definitely be interesting in reading by this author Although I didn't care for any of the characters in this messy tale and though I didn't find any unanticipated twist in the story the narrative shifts in point of view and the diary entries provided good development to the plot Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this e book ARC to read and review
