Unraveling the Earl is the third book in the Idyllwild series, yet it works perfectly fine as a standalone novel. As a standalone novel is how I read it It s my second Lynne Barron book my first being Taming Beauty and I found no troubles suggesting I would do well to read the prior books in the series That is not to say I have no wish to read them having finished this book, I m certainly interested in the prior books in the series merely that you do not need to read them to understand Unraveling the Earl is the third book in the Idyllwild series, yet it works perfectly fine as a standalone novel. As a standalone novel is how I read it It s my second Lynne Barron book my first being Taming Beauty and I found no troubles suggesting I would do well to read the prior books in the series That is not to say I have no wish to read them having finished this book, I m certainly interested in the prior books in the series merely that you do not need to read them to understand this one.Having now read two Lynne Barron books, I believe I can easily recognise her exact style of storytelling I do not mean this in a bad way, not at all Rather, it s a promise of what you will receive when you pick up one of her books You re guaranteed a great historical fiction you re guaranteed complex multidimensional characters you re guaranteed twists and turns In short, you re assured of a great read.Unraveling the Earl is a very different kind of story to Taming Beauty, my only other Lynne Barron book, yet I found myself enjoying it just as much Perhaps a bit , if I m honest I ll admit that it took me a while to get into the story I was constantly looking for answers and explanations, curious as to the whys of events but once everything fell into place and became clear, I found I could not put the book down I was working my way through it at a rapid pace, needing to see how everything played out I ll admit that I saw a few things coming, but as a whole it was filled with wonderful surprises. We have romance and revenge We have passion and desire We have drama and mystery We have questionable motives and questionable characters Basically, we have all we need to be pulled into the story, everything necessary to leave you well and truly engrossed in the events playing out.As with Taming Beauty, though, I think my favourite aspect was the characters Despite the story being wonderful, I found the characters were what really made it come alive They were both wonderful, and I really enjoyed watching their interactions Slowly, as the book progresses, we find outandabout the characters Information is drip fed to us, with bites and pieces being given at just the right moment to ensure shock Both characters are complex, with a past, unique personalities, their own stories to tell, all coming together to make them very real characters The way they complement each other, their personalities playing off each other, is wonderful Honestly, the characters are so strong in this one.Overall, it was another great Lynne Barron read The storyline was gripping, the characters were wonderful, and the book came together so well As a final note, I would like to thank Aurora Publicity for allowing me to read this in exchange for a review I had a lot of fun with this one, and will certainly be looking atof the author s work in the future

This is the third installment in the Idyllwild series and if I thought the first two were great this one is just mind blowing extraordinary Georgie Buchanan is intent on finding a secret when she meets Henry, Earl of Hastings She is most definitely not his type or so he thinks but she is so elusive and sensual in her own way that he falls head over heals for her She does her best to stop herself from developing feelings for the charming earl but nothing she does seems to help and she ends u This is the third installment in the Idyllwild series and if I thought the first two were great this one is just mind blowing extraordinary Georgie Buchanan is intent on finding a secret when she meets Henry, Earl of Hastings She is most definitely not his type or so he thinks but she is so elusive and sensual in her own way that he falls head over heals for her She does her best to stop herself from developing feelings for the charming earl but nothing she does seems to help and she ends up falling for him as well. For all the outstanding lover and demimonde man Henry boasted to be, he was just a sweet, ingenuous boy that had lots to learn and Georgie wasthan willing to be the teacher that procured the lessons She indulged him when it served her purposes and loved him as far as her mind allowed her But her true goal was not to secure a husband or even fall in love, oh no Her true goal was to uncover a secret that had affected her since the day she was born and once she had exposed it for all the world to see, she thought she would liberate herself from a burden she d been carrying all her life The story in itself was raw and honest There were plenty of moments of pure, intense, and palpable human emotions just jumping out of the page I wanted to scream and cry at the though of what Georgie and countless other women had to go through to be accepted and recognized in a society full of hypocrites Henry was a caring man that wanted nothingthan have Georgie with him yet he was unable to see her as her own person with her own needs On the other hand, there were moments I wanted to scream at Georgie for being so cruel with Henry, for breaking such a devoted, warm hearted man although in all honesty cruel might not be the right term because Georgie was just being Georgie and she was not being cruel, she was just opening his eyes to the reality of a world he had never set a foot in, either by choice or by lack of necessity image error The whole story was just perfect It was a roller coaster of thoughts, feelings, and emotions By the end of the book I had called Henry a sweet man, a rake, a cad, and I think I finally settled on sweet man again Georgie was just spectacular I don t think I ve ever read acomplex heroine with that many moral flaws given the times with such a peculiar way of seeing life In my mind, it s like each ruined the other by opening their hearts to something new and unexpected and I didn t understand it until I got to turn the last page They ruined each other in the most perfect of ways they ruined each other by falling in love 5 glowing stars I was gifted a copy of this story in exchange for an honest review

This third book in the Idyllwild series was intriguing, entertaining, frustrating and full of passion I loved the characters Lynne Barron knows how to finely craft an interesting woman She takes it to a whole new level with Georgie Full of spunk, eccentricity, secrets, passion and quirkiness, Georgie is one complicated characterbut so much fun to read about She is so alive, she jumps right off the pages She has Henry s head spinning and totally at a loss as to how to deal with her But This third book in the Idyllwild series was intriguing, entertaining, frustrating and full of passion I loved the characters Lynne Barron knows how to finely craft an interesting woman She takes it to a whole new level with Georgie Full of spunk, eccentricity, secrets, passion and quirkiness, Georgie is one complicated characterbut so much fun to read about She is so alive, she jumps right off the pages She has Henry s head spinning and totally at a loss as to how to deal with her But the heat generated by these two is steamy, explicit and explosive Their relationship is complex, filled with twists and turns and a constant puzzle to the reader That was my frustration with this story.things got quite convoluted at about the midway point and I was having some trouble following the plot There were a few huh moments for me, but then the last quarter of the book got back on track Maybe there could have beenediting to streamline that segment of the novel and make itclear Despite that confusion, I found this novel, and the entire series to be enchanting and engrossing The highlights were the wonderful female characters who were some of the most enjoyable I have encountered Not to mention the really hot love scenes

Georgie Buchanan was not given very many options in life and had to use the tools at her disposal Although I absolutely wouldn t condone those choices in life I like how this character was portrayed She was not a wanton hussy but used her options as she moved towards the goal she had in mind Her character is a strong woman trying to protect herself because she can rely upon no other It makes her a character you would cheer for.Henry, the Earl of Hastings is cast as a scoundrel but he truly i Georgie Buchanan was not given very many options in life and had to use the tools at her disposal Although I absolutely wouldn t condone those choices in life I like how this character was portrayed She was not a wanton hussy but used her options as she moved towards the goal she had in mind Her character is a strong woman trying to protect herself because she can rely upon no other It makes her a character you would cheer for.Henry, the Earl of Hastings is cast as a scoundrel but he truly isn t Yes, has bedded lots of women in this story but he did not seek them out, they have all come to him To me that makes him a man of loose morals but also an opportunist, not a scoundrel I really enjoyed his character He had an inflated ego and it made for many hilarious moments in the story I really liked how Georgie handled him and their interactions together was funny because even though everything was playing out right in front of him he was so full of himself that he just did not see the truth. What I truly liked was the story that lies beyond the in your face sexy times, which abound in this story The first third of the book is mostly sex, bordering on erotica, but then you start to see that there is story that is full of surprises and is actually very entertaining to read There are many twists and turns and humor sprinkled throughout this story but you need to read the entire story for it all to come together Once it does though it is just a fantastic read. What did I not like Specifically, the phrases that were being tossed around concerning relations I understand that there are only so many ways that sexual relations between characters can be described but I felt that something beyond Diddling your quim and tweaking your berries or Perhaps I ll whet my appetite with a nibble of your long legs, followed by a dip in your honeypot would have been preferable Also, on several occasions I just felt that the wording being used for sexual interactions did not match Henry s character as described to me as a reader He comes off as a rake which is not a man inclined to care about another s feelings Henry has not shown any of those qualities Yes, he bedded lots of women but he also is sensitive, caring, and na ve, not truly a rake at all More like a man who has always gotten his way Given how the character of Henry came across the wording being used seemed almost vulgar, not just dirty talk that happens between lovers Now, if his character was written a bit seedier then fine but as it was I just disliked most of the sexual descriptions and word play.As the story goes on the feelings during Sexy Times gets sweet and you can feel a relationship developing Which is nice I really did enjoy the main plot I think if you enjoy historical romance with Sexy Times bordering on erotica and an interesting plot then this book is right up your alley Thank you to Author Lynne Barron and Aurora Publicity for this complimentary copy of Unraveling the Earl This review is based on a digital copy I received from Author Lynne Barron and Aurora Publicity It is an honest and voluntary review and the complimentary receipt of it in no way affected my review or rating.Find this review andat The Genre Minx Book Reviews

3.5 starsCongrats to Lynne Barron on once again creating a story that s equally as riveting as it is inspiring Each installment in her Idyllwild series is much the same way teeming with intrigue and secrecy that keeps you turning page after page while supplying unique characters and circumstances to accomplish the goal If there s one thing I can count on when I pick up one of her books, it s to expect the unexpected Unraveling the Earl definitely provided many instances of the unexpected. On 3.5 starsCongrats to Lynne Barron on once again creating a story that s equally as riveting as it is inspiring Each installment in her Idyllwild series is much the same way teeming with intrigue and secrecy that keeps you turning page after page while supplying unique characters and circumstances to accomplish the goal If there s one thing I can count on when I pick up one of her books, it s to expect the unexpected Unraveling the Earl definitely provided many instances of the unexpected. One such instance is Georgie Buchanan herself She s an unconventional character for a historical with her bold statements, sexual promiscuity and disregard for the rules of society She s a breath of fresh air, and I enjoy the energy she brings to the story Her character is somewhat in counterpoint to Henry, the Earl of Hastings, who falls into what s typically expected of a society male While he s a rogue who seems to enjoy his freedom with the ladies, his character is somewhattraditional and predictable Of course all that changes when he meets Georgie who turns his world upside down For the better I d like to think so, but for a while it s anyone s guess. The main question for me overall is what secret is Miss Georgie Buchanan hiding That question haunted me page after page, and eventually it s clear she s keeping a secret with so many facets that you wonder where if ever it will end Just when I thought I d reached every discernible conclusion, Barron pulls the rug out from under you, introducing yet another angle with dire implications Stories like this can go one of two ways fun or frustration Fortunately Barron manages to keep it on the fun side, adding excitement with each complication rather than irritation Well, that might not be the case for the Earl of Hastings, because I m fairly certain he reaches a point of exasperation All of this mystery and intrigue takes place with a backdrop of steamy sexual gratification and exploration Neither Georgie or Henry is innocent quite the opposite however they re both in for a rude awakening as their liaison begins At any given time each believes to be in control of their encounters, but nothing could be further from the truth Once things get going, both are loath to do anything but lose themselves with total abandon and bring pleasure to the other I enjoy how Barron introduces their complete lack of restraint and the implications that has for their feelings.I definitely recommend this story and series for readers of erotic historicals The way Barron weaves together the characters and stories within the books is well done, and as a reader I appreciate when each intricately planned detail clicks into place I can only hope there arestories to come, as there are so many intriguing characters I d like to know better This review can be found at www.3chicksafterdark.com
