I joined Toastmasters International 10 months ago and I have been transformed I amconfident when I talk either in public or private The butterflies in my stomach haven t left but they are just there I guess disappointed that they have not received tickets to flutter and fly It s because I have gained practical tips to conquer stage fright and I would like to quickly share them with you.1 Prepare If it is to be delivered in public, practice 1 hour for every minute of the duration of yo I joined Toastmasters International 10 months ago and I have been transformed I amconfident when I talk either in public or private The butterflies in my stomach haven t left but they are just there I guess disappointed that they have not received tickets to flutter and fly It s because I have gained practical tips to conquer stage fright and I would like to quickly share them with you.1 Prepare If it is to be delivered in public, practice 1 hour for every minute of the duration of your speech If you know your speech well, you will deliver itconfidently If it is for a meeting or short chat, prepare what you are going to say at least in your mind following the speech patterns in Table Topics Google this if you are not a Toastmaster.2 Talk to share and not to impress Make sharing your story or thoughts as your primary objective and not to impress Your sincerity and emotion will be detected by the audience They relate better to sincere and even vulnerable speakers.3 Consider your speech as your gift to your audience Imagine that while delivering your speech, you are opening yourself to your audience because you are connecting If you see yourself as a giver, you make sure that you give your best and since you are giving your best, your audience becomes your bunch of friends and so they want you to succeed. These tips I culled from my 10 months with Toastmasters and from the 50 Toastmasters clubs that I have so far visited Those tips are not directly from this book written in 1959 by the founder of Toastmasters International, Dr Ralph C Smedley February 22, 1878 to September 11, 1965 However, the original intent of helping people with their communication skills and later leadership skills is still what this international organization is accomplishing worldwide. This book is highly recommended to all Toastmasters for them to know the man whose has been dead forthan a century now but left us a legacy that will stay as long as people are still communicating with each other This becomescrucial because of the advent of the digital area when most people would rather communicate via smart phones rather than talk face to face verbally

I have picked up a few short books by Dr Smedley to learnabout the philosophy behind Toastmasters, and how that philosophy was refined or changed over time Anyone else looking for similar information would be advised to read Personally Speaking or Speech Evaluation instead of this book. However, this book is almost completely dedicated to the history of the organization I found the early history to be interesting, as well as a few points along the way, but the material will only be o I have picked up a few short books by Dr Smedley to learnabout the philosophy behind Toastmasters, and how that philosophy was refined or changed over time Anyone else looking for similar information would be advised to read Personally Speaking or Speech Evaluation instead of this book. However, this book is almost completely dedicated to the history of the organization I found the early history to be interesting, as well as a few points along the way, but the material will only be of interest to a small group of people
