3.5 This is a festive romance with a difference It also has a bit of a surreal, almost out of body ghostly element to it during which Dan realises he s slowly sinking into his own head. There s a gentle building up of tension, to the point where I was really rooting for Aaron and his unwavering support of Dan s depression even as you could see he was hurt by what was happening.Thankfully, it being a festive read, there s an upturn on the horizon and Dan s realisation that when he s with Aaron, h 3.5 This is a festive romance with a difference It also has a bit of a surreal, almost out of body ghostly element to it during which Dan realises he s slowly sinking into his own head. There s a gentle building up of tension, to the point where I was really rooting for Aaron and his unwavering support of Dan s depression even as you could see he was hurt by what was happening.Thankfully, it being a festive read, there s an upturn on the horizon and Dan s realisation that when he s with Aaron, his black dog is easier to keep at bay.I loved the way these two connected and were able to discuss their feelings once Dan had his epiphany ARC kindly received from the author in return for an honest and unbiased review

How do you escape problems you re facing when they are inside yourself Dan, from Nowhere to Hide by Clare London, is an emotional mess, but he can t seem to see that his attitudes are what is holding him back, keeping him from healing in order to solve a problem he must first recognize it Only then is he able to change it.From past experience, Dan s perception of the Christmas season is a dire one and not without reason Throughout his life, bad things seem to always happen during Christmas How do you escape problems you re facing when they are inside yourself Dan, from Nowhere to Hide by Clare London, is an emotional mess, but he can t seem to see that his attitudes are what is holding him back, keeping him from healing in order to solve a problem he must first recognize it Only then is he able to change it.From past experience, Dan s perception of the Christmas season is a dire one and not without reason Throughout his life, bad things seem to always happen during Christmastime, the most recent being his horrendous car accident All of the therapy, counseling, encouragement, and medication has helped, but not enough Dan still sees himself as a broken, fearful, wreck of a man, with nothing to offer anyone He s desperately lonely but afraid to commit for fear of hurting himself and Aaron Dan needs to do some serious soul searching, decide what is important or he can continue to wallow in his self pity and lose everything.Aaron is a gem, a real blessing for Dan Everyone deserves to be loved the way Aaron does Dan Aaron understands that Dan s negative self perception is the key to his inability to recover and lead a normal life He s also relatively sure that Dan loves him just as much as he adores Dan Aaron has infinite patience and graciousness He puts his own feelings on hold, doing everything he can to make Dan feel as comfortable as possible He gives Dan plenty of space, while at the same time he welcomes him with open arms whenever he s feeling courageous enough to act on his feelings, and doesn t blame or criticize Dan when it doesn t work out Aaron inherently knows that if he doesn t react this way, Dan might lose himself forever He loves Dan with all his heart and refuses to let go, even if it means leaving Dan in order to afford him the opportunity to heal without feeling any kind of pressure to do so What Aaron most wishes for Dan is that he could see himself as Aaron sees him.Although this story is not a bouncy, sugar coated holiday story, it is quite touching and profound The pace was slow and measured in the beginning, suiting the internal struggle that Dan was going through, while highlighting Aaron s patient understanding of the matter The resolution comes, as many do after one has an Epiphany that is life changing I recommend this book to those who like to read aboutrealistic characters who struggle with difficult, but not impossible circumstances, and come out better for it Thanks, Clare, for adding your magical touch to my reading and reminding us that Christmas miracles can and do happen

To be honest I found this a bit too melancholy dark heavy in the emotional sense for a holiday read.It s not that it is a bad book far from it It s well written and touching but not something I personally enjoy at this time of the year.I liked very much that Aaron was very understanding and tried everything to be supportive of Dan and that Dan then had some kind of ephinany and wasopen and willing to talk with and to Aaron To be honest I found this a bit too melancholy dark heavy in the emotional sense for a holiday read.It s not that it is a bad book far from it It s well written and touching but not something I personally enjoy at this time of the year.I liked very much that Aaron was very understanding and tried everything to be supportive of Dan and that Dan then had some kind of ephinany and wasopen and willing to talk with and to Aaron

Quick, short hurt comfort read IMO, the big epiphany in the end was too quick coming, but still an enjoyable read.
