This was a fun bit of predictable Farnol fluff, that s not a bad thing since that s what he meant it to be Written during WWII, Farnol wrote this to cheer everyone up and give them some happy endings It s set when ladies wore bustles and England was fairly peaceful It s by no means uneventful, however, and we have a few rogues, a humorous cockney lad and an American spitfire for a heroine Like most of Farnol s books, I enjoyed it he s one of my favorite authors , It didn t make five stars b This was a fun bit of predictable Farnol fluff, that s not a bad thing since that s what he meant it to be Written during WWII, Farnol wrote this to cheer everyone up and give them some happy endings It s set when ladies wore bustles and England was fairly peaceful It s by no means uneventful, however, and we have a few rogues, a humorous cockney lad and an American spitfire for a heroine Like most of Farnol s books, I enjoyed it he s one of my favorite authors , It didn t make five stars because it was a bit too predictable I wasn t surprised by anything and the heroine annoyed me at times I didn t care about her bronco busting days , but I still enjoyed it and I liked the banter between her and the hero, it s not that often that you have two characters making fun of each other s colloquialisms Anyway, the plot is this, Justin, Viscount Wade Orrington has never felt like much of a gentleman s son, he s always been different from the others, no good at book work, not handsome like his father and he hasn t got a mother Worse, he doesn t know if she s dead or alive His father doesn t seem to worry about any of that, instead he sets about arranging for him to marry Helene, Marchioness of Dorincourt Having no desire to do so he leaves London and his father sends him to fix up the ancestral home, Trevore where he meets Samatha Dudeney an American who knows how to make angel cakeWe have a loony wife, a missing wife, villains and a funny Factotum Mild PG some boxing and a few swears
