The denouement was a bit confusing Who played which part and especially why Who was the warrior and why didn't he want to kill her any There was no reaction from his brothers that he and Anora were in love now What caused the change of hart of Munro?A lot of uestions and no answersI didn't like Isobel She seems dishonest It took almost to the end of the story before they slept together

The eldest MacGowan brother is not known for his joyous charm or enchanting laughter No while his brothers a full of life arguing and fighting and throwing themselves at women the hero is the complete opposite He is a stern imposing figure who keeps himself apart from his family and his thoughts and feelings to himself When the three brothers find a wounded and fragile woman on their land of course his brothers are enchanted Carrying her back to their keep they proceed to fawn over her giving her a name and a personality without even knowing the women But not the hero No his issues with women in general make him a cynic and distrustful of the fairer sex and there's nothing suspicious than ta beautiful women When she awakes she does so fighting When uestioned about herself and how she ended up alone in the woods she tells them a pretty story and solidifies it with a vulnerable demeanor But the hero isn't fooled She's lying her little face off and there' nothing he hates than a liar The heroine cannot possibly reveal her true identity Not to strangers and certainly not to men The secrets she keeps walled up inside her make her extremely distrustful of men but the 2 warrior brothers who she finds herself with them she can handle She knows their type It's the other brother the tall dark and solemn brother who is the true danger She can see than he dislikes her and he makes it plain She knows she must get away from all of them as soon as she can A dream vision alerts her to danger back home and she is needed desperately She finds herself traveling with the 3 bickering brothersand the dark brother as well much to her disagreement The hero doesn't entirely know why he's compelled to travel with them well at least not that'll he'll admit to but he soon finds himself in the company of a women he both distrusts and is attracted to When she is attacked and the hero wound saving them both she urges him to take her home Against his better judgment he leaves with her on a solo mission Their relationship is strained to say the least Every word out of her mouth is a lie and that fills the hero with anger and disgust But there are moments of vulnerability that manage to draw him in and cast doubt over his belief of the type of person she is It becomes clear that her skittishness around men is due to the fact that she was raped as a young girl The idea of her in such a position fills him with rage No one deserves that no one deserves to be told by their father that it was her fault that she was a tease But regardless this attack has cast permanent damage towards the heroine interactions with men and sex She has a very warped perspective about herself sexually She is standoffish skittish and cold towards any sexual advance But at times she can play the seductress initiating the intimacy before freaking out and accusing the hero of trying to rape her It was like a sick test When he would show interest in her sexually she would think he means to rape her If he didn't react to her advances then she would cry foul that he thinks she's tainted goods that he believes like her father did that she deserved what happened to her Hard enough to deny his growing feels to himself the hero has serous trouble trying to understand his female companion When it comes to light however that she is betrothed he is furious Yet that doesn't stop him from defending her honor fighting her fiancé for the right for her hand even if it's all fictitious even claiming a bastard child as his own He may play the cool cold customer but he has a heart of gold and is deep down a good man I struggled with this book and in the end I came to the conclusion that I didn't like it I strongly disliked the heroine I found her extremely annoying and delusional and fucked up mentally She lied about everything all the time She lied when she didn't even have to lie I may have liked the hero as an idea but even he couldn't save a boring and frustrating book Zero chemistry at least that I felt Whatever moments the hero and heroine did have were few and far between and always ended up in a fight or having them pretend that it meant nothing Both lied to themselves for the entire book feels or emotions in general were always hinted but never fully acted out until the end It was a game of will they won't they that I was never truly invested in and couldn't care less about the outcome

The Fraser Bride NRGreiman Lois 1st in Highland Rogues seriesFrom the moment he first encounters the ravishing sleeping beauty on his land Ramsay MacGowan is bewitched and the tale she spins upon waking convinces him to be her protector But Anora Fraser's stories of bandits and terror are falsehoods meant to mask a dangerous truth And though Ramsay has had his fill of beautiful conniving lassies he can't resist the exuisite deceiver his strong arms ache to enfoldAnora is desperate when she tricks Ramsay into escorting her to her home and pretending to be her lover With no clansman to defend her she's forced to turn to this courageous scion of the mighty MacGowans to thwart her dreaded marriage to a cruel foe For proud Anora will surrender to no man not even to the bold brazen highlander whose gentle yet passionate caresses weaken her resolve But can either defy their own yearning hearts or the ancient prophecy that signifies Ramsay as the perfect husband for a Fraser bride?Really disliked the female protagonist

Cute A little too cute I would have liked a little grit with this book A lot of the dialogue and descriptions were a little too flowery and didn't get right down to it Anora's character annoyed the crikey out of me with all the dishonesty but I get in the end why she was not forthright with what was going onotherwise the brothers would have sprinted away from her I really loved the scene where they FINALLY had sexand Ramsay was so gentle with her considering her history Very sweet and made me smile I also liked the scene at the inn The characters were developed extremely well with all their history the imagery on the settings was picturesue and pleasant to read about and this was an entertaining story for sure I really could have done without the dated terms such as wick arousal and manhood but it DID come out in 2001 sookay Very cute Highlander romance I too guessed Isobel at the end I liked Ramsay better than Anora I wish that the Warrior had been explained but I have book 2 in the series so maybe I'll find out then

Ok seriously I had to laugh about Ramsay continuously calling his dick a wick LOL hilarious I've been wanting to read this book for uite some time so I'm glad my friend came across a copy It was really cute I didn't understand Anora's dishonesty though and why she lied about who she was for so long I loved the interaction of the brothers they argued just like siblings and they were funny together All in all not a bad book but it was romance and one sex scene

I read this because I was curious about Lois Greiman I had not read her before and I saw her listed as a fave in the highlander group It wasn't a terrible story but it wasn't all that good either I didn't care for the heroine and her constant lies but the hero was decent There were unanswered uestions at the end of the book and I may decide to continue the series just to find out what they are but then again I don't know

  9. says:

A decent read It wasn't as exciting as I would have liked but it was still a really good read I have to read book 2 now I wish Ramsay would have been less of a pansy but I can still appreciate it for what it was

I'm not sure why I didn't really dig this book It's not terrible but it just didn't hook me I ended up not reading the other two in the trilogy even though I had them checked out
