Yay A Vampirella anthology with work from a shit ton of well known creators A Vampthology? What’s it about?Umm sorta already went over that It’s an anthology of Vampirella stories from various well known respected authors and artists of comicsWhat I thought of the storiesThe New European by Alan Moore and Gary Frank ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Excellent I often think Moore is overrated but holy shit this is good It’s intense interesting has great horror and suspense Awesome art too It’s also pretty cool that Moore wrote characters that I cared about in such a short story My only problem is that it doesn’t have anything to do with Vampirella herself just a general vampire story That’s not necessarily bad but it shouldn’t be in a Vampirella bookVampirella of Drakulon by Forest J Ackerman and Mark Texeria ⭐️⭐️ Kind of stupid It’s a telling of some sorta Elseworld type I think Vampirella origin story and feels like little than a silly excuse for gore and boobies At least the art’s goodLooking For Mr Goodwin by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Interesting despite being so short and the art style is wonderful It definitely has a similar tone to the LoebSale Batman stuffBugs by Kurt Busiek and Arthur Adams ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Very interesting and intense story Very good art My only problem is that it’s one of those times when it would have been much shorter if the characters weren’t fucktards but guess what? They were fucktardsSanctuary by Christopher Priest and Alan Davis ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Wow It’s very short and wordless yet tells a story perfectly That’s some solid comic book work Also amazing art and bad ass actionLust For Life by Ty Templeton and Bruce Timm ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A weird but interesting story that is fairly intense and the art style is adorable Unfortunately it is a bit too silly and predictable for me to give it a 5 star ratingThe Killing Floor by Steve Lieber ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The anti meat thing was sorta stupid but I still enjoyed this story very much It was interesting had lots of intense action and Lieber’s art is obviously going to be fantasticWinter Rose by Liam Sharp ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Beautiful art interesting story but not very good execution It felt a bit like one of those weird fragrance commercials except with a plot and some gore so overall it was okayMatinee by Michael Golden ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Very funny intense and self aware with great art and a fun story I sometimes like when stories poke a bit of fun at itself and the audience this story is definitely one of those The horror stuff is pretty weird done too Probably my favorite part of the bookFantasy Feast by Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner ⭐️⭐️ Kinda stupid bathroom humor story It does have fantastic art though and it is well done than MOST bathroom humor That being said it’s still a stupid way to write a story and is kinda anti climactic in generalInk by Phil Hester and Stephen Segovia ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ While I didn’t care much for the dialogue it is a very interesting and twisted tale with excellent artwork and it’s very intenseOverallA very good anthology Normally I think anthologies are hit or miss I guess they nev GODDAMMIT TIK TOK MEMES GO BACK TO 2018 and this one is much hitsSure there are 2 I dislike and 1 that was kinda meh but there are 8 that I greatly enjoyed including 2 masterpieces so yeah I’m a fanThis anthology gives readers several fantastic well written humorous and action packed stories that mix horror and superhero fun Honestly I don’t see how one wouldn’t like Vampirella I know some are put off by the fact that the covers which make the comics look like a bunch of gore and gratuitous fan service and while yeah you do get that but you also get a character that I’ve discovered helps make superheroes great again Great book highly recommended45

A collection featuring work by all manner of impressive creators – Alan Moore Christopher Priest Steve Lieber Conner and Palmiotti Loeb Sale Paul Dini Gary Frank and – which still fails to convince me that Vampirella can ever be than mildly embarrassing cheesecake She kicks demon arse she kicks human arse she muses on who is the real monster is it the businessman in his suit and tie? all while barely staying in her costume or disrobing at almost tasteful angles Mostly it just leaves me feeling a little awkward like artefacts from a parallel universe where Page 3 is a bit goth The one exception is the MooreFrank story which has the advantage of not featuring Vampirella being instead the story of a modern man fully aware of the novel Dracula who nonetheless encounters the Count and finds his life running into familiar grooves And even there while I enjoyed it upon reading it a week or so back we’ve since had the announcement of the MoffatGatiss Dracula and I have a nasty feeling this could have been a foretaste of the future

A decent set of stories Some are forgettable than others but overall I think the book is good

One of the best anthologies I've ever read it's got a very nice array of writers and artists

Some nice art in this volume but none of the stories really interested me

This is the third Vampirella book I've read I'm working my way through the Masters Series although I skipped vol 3 The previous volumes focused on specific authors whereas this volume collects 11 stories by various writers and artists This is both a strength and a weakness The plus side is that we get to see some top talent handle Vampi the bad side is that there is no cohesion the volume Vampi has uite a lengthy complex and convoluted history and the stories collected here all come from different periods of her history For someone who is not too familiar with Vampirella's history such as myself it can be a bit confusing Sometimes Vampi is a loner sometimes with a companions sometimes an alien sometimes a daughter of Lilith you see my pointThese niggles aside though I found each story to be uite entertaining The stories vary in tone and style from camp to grotesue and comedy to mystery The book also looks fantastic with great artwork by Tim Sale Bruce Timm and Amanda Conner put these three in ANY book and I'll be happyI was almost tempted to give this book 4 stars and there are certainly stories within it that deserve 4 or maybe even 5 stars but there was one major problem I had with it and that is Alan Moore's story Now I love a bit of Alan Moore who doesn't? and I was interested to see what his story would be like The book actually opens with an interview with Moore and then moves on to the actual comic The interview was all about modernising Dracula so I thought 'ah a Vampi vs Dracula story could be fun especially in Alan's hands' but that's not what we get We just get a short Dracula story What? Sorry but when you slap Alan Moore's name across a Vampirella book forgive me for expecting an Alan Moore Vampirella story Checking the contents I discovered this story was from a DraculaVampirella comic HmmAlan Moore's story is not bad but does feel out of place and it seems like a cheat on Dynamite's part they just wanted Moore's name on the coverAnyway as with the other Vampirella Masters Series books a one word review could be 'fun' A good way to spend a dark and stormy night

If this is really the best of Vampirella it doesn't paint a great picture of the overall uality True some of the stories are by some of the best in the comics business but they don't seem to have invested much in the stories Things like Fantasy Feast where laxatives play a key role or the Killing Floor a decent if uninspired story about a cult in a slaughterhouse make up this collection with no real standouts The art on Ink is good and Alan Moore's story feels like part one of a good story but it has no part two Overall there's nothing here that's going to sell you on Vampirella and the overall uality is pretty spotty Some beautiful art but that's about all that really is going for it

A variety plate of 11 stories by 11 different creative teams this volume provides a nice change of pace from the longer arcs presented in the first three volumes of this series Though I tend to favour stories I can sink my teeth into no pun intended Volume 4 will undoubtedly come in handy on those nights my attention span is lacking than usual The stories predictably range in both tone and uality; the artwork is a knockout throughout
